Where are your hotels located?
The three Historic House Hotels are located within easy reach of the main rail and motorway networks as follows:
Hartwell House, Oxford Road, in the Vale of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, just 2 miles from train station at Aylesbury.
Middlethorpe Hall, Bishopthorpe Road, York, just two miles outside the city centre.
Bodysgallen Hall, The Royal Welsh Way, Llandudno, North Wales, just two miles for the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno, and the medieval town of Conwy.
Do your properties have free parking?
Yes, there is ample free parking at all three hotels.
Do your properties have disabled access?
Historic House Hotels understand that every guest has different needs and we aim to make our hotels' facilities available and accessible to all our guests equally. In rare instances where this is not possible, we will endeavour to offer a suitable alternative.
We offer a range of facilities for guests with a perspective on disability, including accessible bedrooms, bathrooms and lavatories, accessible entrances, access ramps, designated or assisted car parking, flashing fire alarms. Guide dogs are welcome.
Do you accept credit card payment?
Yes, we accept American Express, Mastercard, Visa and Delta credit/debit cards. We do not accept Diners Club card.
What is your cancellation policy?
Any reservation cancelled within 48 hours of the arrival date (or within 14 days for bookings of five rooms or more, or for overseas bookings) is liable to be charged for unless we are able to re-let the accommodation to another guest.
What happens to the information I give you?
We collect information from you when you contact us. We use this to help us make decisions about any services in which we feel you may be interested. You have the right at any time to stop us from contacting you for marketing purposes. To stop us contacting you, please write to sales@historichousehotels.com and we will remove your details from our marketing database. You have the right to obtain a copy of the information that we hold about you. You may request correction or removal of any information that you believe to be inaccurate.
Do you have a policy on children?
We welcome children over the age of six years and between eight (six years at Hartwell House) and sixteen years at set swimming times in the Spa swimming pool when accompanied by an adult.
Do you have a policy on dogs?
Dogs are welcome at our hotels by prior arrangement (two small dogs or one larger dog). The hotels are set in beautiful parkland and dogs may be walk in the park and woodland, but not in the gardens. We kindly advise you that dogs are not allowed on the beds. Damage or injury to livestock will be charged for.
Do your hotels have free WiFi?
Yes, the hotels are equipped with WiFi internet and there is access for multi-device use throughout most of the hotel and bedrooms.
Are your restaurants open to non-residents?
We welcome non-resident guests to dine in the hotel and spas for breakfast, morning coffee, luncheon, afternoon tea, and dinner. Online bookings can be made on each individual hotel website.
Do you have a dress code when dining in the restaurants?
Yes, smart please (although jacket and tie for gentlemen are not obligatory): trainers, tracksuits and shorts are not acceptable.
Can you accommodate special dietary requirements?
We cater for all dietary requirements, and just ask that you let us know ahead of your visit so that our chefs can prepare accordingly.
Should you have a food allergy or intolerance, please consult a member of staff before deciding what to eat and placing an order, on every occasion, whilst in the hotel.
Can I book for exclusive use or private dining?
All three hotels have beautiful rooms and are ideal for special occasions, private functions, corporate events, weddings and civil partnerships.
You can also hire our hotels for exclusive use.

What's included in the room rates?
When you book direct with the hotel, either via our website or by telephone, we guarantee the best available room rates. Included in the room rates are: accommodation, early morning tea, full cooked breakfast taken in the dining room, free WiFi, use of the hotel Spa, free parking, service, VAT and access to the gardens and parkland.
Do you have a smoking policy?
In line with National Legislation, our hotels are non-smoking, including all public rooms, bedrooms and suites. A deep cleaning charge of £100 per day will be charged if evidence of smoking is detected in your bedroom.
Are your hotel Spas open to non-residents?
We welcome non-resident guests who are taking spa days and half days, and our Spa members.
Can I use the Spa while staying at one of your hotels?
Full use of the Spa is included in your stay.
What facilities do you have at your hotel Spas?
All three hotel Spas have a large indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, spa bath, fully equipped gymnasium, relaxation area, indoor and outdoor area where refreshments are served, and treatment rooms.
What is your cancellation policy for Spa bookings?
If you cancel your treatment less than 24 hours prior to your appointment, or if you fail to attend at the time of the reserved treatment, you will incur a 50% charge. Should you need to cancel your treatment booking, please cancel your booking through the Spa Reception.
Can I visit the gardens at your hotels if I am a National Trust member?
You can visit the gardens and parkland at our hotels is you are a paying guest of the hotel, restaurant, or Spa, irrespective of National Trust membership.
Can I explore the house if I am a National Trust member?
The hotels' public rooms are open to paying guests and those taking breakfast, morning coffee, luncheon, afternoon tea or dinner and all hotel residents.
What is the discount for National Trust members?
National Trust members benefit from our seasonal reader offer advertised in the National Trust magazine.
What is the relationship between Historic House Hotels and National Trust?
In September 2008, Historic House Hotels Ltd and all its interest in the three Historic House Hotels (Hartwell House, Bodysgallen Hall and Middlethorpe Hall), became the property of the National Trust, by donation, with all profits henceforward benefiting the houses and the charity.
Can I become a volunteer in your Gardens or in one of your hotels?
We welcome volunteers to assist with our work of continued restoration and maintenance in our gardens and parkland.
We also require volunteers from time to time in our kitchens.
